Kollmorgen motors and drives have changed how industrial applications are run and controlled. Although Kollmorgen has designed and manufactured a wide range of industrial motors, the Kollmorgen M Goldline servo motors series provides maximum value and performance. This family of motors features neodynium-iron-boron magnets that have high energy to provide excellent torque performance on the industrial floor. Goldline series motors have an exceptional thermal design which adds to the overall acceleration strengths. When interfaced with the Kollmorgen ServoStar amplifier, this series of motors are able to reach optimum performance and eases the set up process.

The Kollmorgen M-605-A-B1 is a servo motor that falls in the Goldline series of motors with  medium inertia. The motor has a horsepower rating of 8.0 HP, an apparent power rating of 6.0 kilo Watts, a peak line current of 57.4 ARMS, and weighs 28.7 kilograms. When the M-605-A-B1 is operated at its rated power, it can reach a speed of 2150 revolutions per minute which is also its maximum rated speed. The motor has a thermal resistance of 0.28 degrees Celsius per Watt (when stalled) and a continuous torque of 31.9 N-m at an ambient temperature of 25 degrees Celsius.

The M-605-A-B1 supports the use of the Kollmorgen ServoStar amplifier that has a unique multi-drop configuration that allows a personal computer and a programing logic controller to rely on a single RS-232 connection to communicate with other ServoStar amplifiers. To enhance the reliability of the M-605-A-B1 even in industrial environments with high vibrations, the motor employs a resolver instead of an encoder for feedback. The motor is recognized by the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) making it globally recognized.
