The KSM 12-2 is a fail-safe control system in the form of a programmable logic controller. These are made by Kollmorgen. It comprises of two processing units that are independent of each other. The KSM series controller is widely used in emergency stop facilities. It can also operate as a PES unit for both functional safety and risk reduction. The unit is widely used in switch gears. The module has three cut-off channels and 14 safe inputs. This setup can be expanded to a maximum of 65 safe I/Os. The digital I/Os have 24VDC rated voltage. The control system has a maximum of two monitored axes and two encoder interfaces.
The system supports a maximum of two extension units. The unit has two safe digital outputs, one safe relay output, two standard outputs, and two pulse outputs. It features 24VDC supply voltage at 2A current rating. The module has 0.25A maximum output current on the digital output. The device does not feature an integrated communication interface. The accessory has a +/-10V maximum analog input voltage rating. The system comes in 100 x 115 x 112.5mm size. It has a tolerance range of -15% to 20%.
