Product Description:
The KSM 100-1-CN is a configurable safety solution module produced by Kollmorgen as part of the KSM Safety Solution Modules series. It serves as a central node that evaluates safety signals and issues stop or enable commands to drives and contactors in industrial automation systems. By combining programmable logic, safe I/O channels, and fieldbus communication in a narrow DIN-rail housing, it helps machine builders meet functional safety requirements while using minimal panel space.
The module exchanges process data with the higher-level controller over CANopen at a baud rate of 500 kBit/s. Fourteen dual-channel circuits provide up to 14 safe inputs for emergency-stop buttons, light curtains, and door switches, while dedicated semiconductor channels accept 8 OSSD inputs from muting sensors. Conventional sensing signals enter through digital terminals rated at 24 VDC 20 mA. Actuator commands leave the unit on standard sourcing channels that can drive loads up to 24 VDC 250 mA. These channels allow the module to monitor field devices and switch contactor coils without external relays.
For power distribution, the module draws from a 24 VDC / 2 A supply rail, aligned with the same 2 A fast-acting fuse specified for its input. Peak internal demand stays below 3.2 W, limiting thermal rise even in sealed cabinets. Two clocked drivers provide 2 pulse outputs, and each one can source up to 250 mA. The safety chain ends with two safe digital sourcing channels and a Form C relay listed as 1 safe relay output that can switch either 24 VDC or 230 VAC at 2 A. Two additional standard outputs support diagnostic lamps, and field wiring up to 1.5 mm² can be secured in the spring terminals. The molded enclosure carries an IP52 rating, permitting use in guarded panels where limited dust and dripping water are present.
