Product Description:
The VP-508CEAN-01 cable is produced by Kollmorgen within the Kollmorgen Servo Cables series. It is a dedicated power interconnect intended for industrial automation systems that link AKM servo motors to compatible AKD servo drives. The cable transmits phase power and protective earth between the two devices so the drive can regulate motor torque and speed. Its low-impedance conductors and shielding support precise current control while minimizing electromagnetic interference inside motion-control cabinets.
The assembly is a power cable with four copper conductors sized to carry motor phase current and provide protective grounding without additional signal pairs. The permitted continuous load is 12 A, which is the maximum motor current that the cable can deliver without overheating its conductors. The line insulation supports a system potential of 600 V, allowing connection to standard AKD drives supplied by three-phase mains power. The molded jacket is made of TPE, a thermoplastic elastomer that resists the oil, coolant, and abrasion commonly encountered in machine cells. During installation, the assembly must not be bent more tightly than its minimum bend radius of 102.5 mm. Observing this limit reduces stress on the conductor strands and helps preserve the integrity of the insulation.
The cable weighs 0.247 kg, which helps users account for drag-chain loading and the support needed along vertical routes. Its electrical terminations are pinned so that the orientation from an AKM motor mates directly with an AKD drive, providing an AKM motor-to-AKD drive connection. Continuous exposure to ambient temperatures up to 105 °C is permitted, making the cable suitable for warm cabinets and locations near motor housings. The cable is not intended for continuous dynamic flexing or repetitive movement in an energy chain. It should be installed in stationary routes or applications involving only occasional movement. Appropriate strain relief should be provided near each termination to prevent connector loads from transferring to the conductors. Routing the cable away from sharp edges also helps protect the jacket from cuts and concentrated mechanical pressure.
