Shielded twisted pairs help reduce interference in industrial environments where stable encoder feedback is needed for accurate servo response. Its role is limited to signal and low-power feedback transmission rather than motor power delivery.

At the drive end, an IEEE 1394 style molded plug carries the feedback lines through 6 contacts on a 2.0 mm pitch.
