Product Description:
The RES-AKM-030M-MCS-DCA-28-NA feedback cable is supplied by Kollmorgen within the Kollmorgen Servo Cables series. It forms the dedicated link between an AKM servo motor and a Kollmorgen drive, routing resolver position signals and auxiliary power lines to support closed-loop motion control. By carrying low-level feedback signals through a shielded, purpose-built assembly, the cable simplifies installation in automated machinery and maintains signal integrity between moving axes and stationary control cabinets.
The cable is supplied in a maximum assembled length of 30 m, allowing the drive to be mounted well outside the machine envelope while keeping resolver signals within their allowable voltage drop. Each conductor is sized at 24 AWG, a cross-section chosen to balance flexibility with current-carrying capacity for low-power sensing circuits. The internal core contains four twisted pairs; continuous twisting minimizes electromagnetic coupling between channels and helps reject common-mode noise. Three auxiliary conductors for +5 VDC, 9 VDC, and COM are carried alongside the resolver leads to supply reference voltages to the motor electronics. The cable is intended for static installation, so it should remain fixed in cable trays rather than endure constant flexing.
On the drive side, the molded connector enters the housing at a 45° angle, which reduces bending stress where the cable meets the cabinet wall. Electrical termination at the controller uses a 15-pin HD male D-sub connector that mates directly with the Kollmorgen F1/F2 feedback port, eliminating the need for adapter hardware. Inside the cable jacket, the paired leads are mapped to the sine-cosine channels of the embedded resolver, ensuring that the shaft position signal is delivered without digital conversion delays. A straight plug at the motor end fits the AKM resolver header, completing a shielded feedback path between the motor and the stationary drive components.
