Product Description:
The RES-AKM-015M-MCS-DCA-28-NA cable assembly is produced by Kollmorgen within the Kollmorgen Servo Cables series. It forms the dedicated power and feedback link between an AKM servo motor and a matching AKD drive, carrying phase power, resolver signals, and auxiliary low-voltage lines required for temperature monitoring. Used in industrial automation, the cable allows torque commands and position data to travel reliably between stationary control cabinets and motors mounted on machinery frames.
To keep installation simple, the cable is designed for static routing rather than continuous movement in cable carriers. The molded drive-side connector has a 45-degree angle, allowing it to clear cabinet doors while maintaining the minimum bend radius. This mating interface uses a 15-pin high-density male D-sub plug that aligns with the feedback port on AKD amplifiers. Rotor position signals pass through a shielded twisted resolver pair, while separate conductors carry the TEMP+, COM, +5 VDC, and +9 VDC auxiliary signals used for thermal sensing and excitation power. The copper cross-sections support a continuous current of 10 A, enabling the assembly to deliver motor phase current without excessive temperature rise. The power and signal conductors use 28 AWG twisted construction to minimize crosstalk, and the resolver channels are separated into COS+, COS-, SIN+, SIN-, REF+, and REF- conductors for accurate analog decoding.
The motor-end circuit is rated for 160 V AC or DC and terminates in a 12-pin M23 threaded connector. Its straight exit keeps the cable parallel to the motor housing. Die-cast shells and compression seals provide IP66/IP67 protection, preventing dust ingress and guarding against high-pressure water jets during washdown. The electrical insulation withstands surge testing at 2500 V, and the assembly is approved for Overvoltage Category III, allowing installation inside machines that are permanently connected to the plant power supply. All conductors are occupied by three phases, resolver pairs, temperature leads, and protective earth. The cable follows Kollmorgen pinout conventions and requires a minimum bend radius of 35 mm to preserve shield integrity.
