Product Description:
The RES-AKM-009M-MCS-DCA-28-NA is a fixed-installation servo feedback cable produced by Kollmorgen for the Kollmorgen Servo Cables series. It links AKM motors to their matched drives by carrying resolver position signals and sensor supply rails inside one harness. In industrial automation cabinets and cable trays, the assembly provides a static, low-loss pathway that maintains signal integrity while eliminating the extra field wiring often required for separate feedback and temperature leads.
With an overall length of 9 m, the cable is classified for static installation, so it is intended to remain clamped after routing rather than flex continuously. The drive side terminates in a 15-pin high-density D-sub male connector with a 45° exit angle to minimize the required installation depth when the plug is mated. Resolver information moves over differential channels labeled COS, SIN, and REF, and the bundle simultaneously carries 9 VDC, +5 VDC, and COM rails for the sensor electronics. Electromagnetic immunity is improved by an overall braid and foil that provide a shielded jacket, limiting noise coupled from nearby power conductors. A straight circular motor connector mates directly with the AKM housing without requiring intermediate adapters.
Inside the jacket, the twisted conductors are organized as four pairs, and each pair has a capacitance of less than 120 pF/m, keeping resolver phase error low across long cable runs. The design supports an aggregate cable length of up to 100 m, leaving considerable capacity beyond the prefabricated segment when the connected equipment permits a longer feedback circuit. At the motor end, a keyed straight shell presents a 12-pole connection that distributes resolver leads, supply rails, and embedded thermal-sensor wires. The included thermal protection path allows the drive to reduce current if the motor winding temperature rises. The keyed shell also helps maintain correct contact alignment when the connector is attached to the motor housing.
