The RES-AKM-001M-MCS-DCA-28-NA is a dedicated feedback cable produced by Kollmorgen for the Kollmorgen Servo Cables series. The assembly connects AKM servomotors that use resolver sensing to Kollmorgen drives installed in control enclosures. Within an automated machine, it routes resolver excitation, return, and temperature leads alongside auxiliary supply conductors, allowing one harness to carry continuous position feedback, thermal monitoring, and signal reference. Consolidating these functions simplifies installation and supports consistent motion control in packaging lines, pick-and-place gantries, and other industrial axes.
The cable contains four twisted pairs that balance electromagnetic fields and help reject common-mode interference from neighboring power cables. The entire run measures 1 m, making it suitable for inside-cabinet or close-coupled motor applications where excess slack is undesirable. Copper conductors sized at 24 AWG provide sufficient cross-sectional area for resolver reference currents while keeping the cable diameter compact. A molded 15-pin HD D-sub male connector terminates the drive end and connects directly to the F1/F2 feedback port without adapter hardware. Inside the jacket, the pinout supports a resolver interface with separate sine, cosine, and reference channels that allow the drive to calculate the instantaneous rotor angle.
The cable is designed for static routing, so it should remain fixed after installation rather than undergo repetitive flexing. The drive-end backshell has a 45-degree orientation, which reduces the required bend space in shallow control cabinets. At the motor end, a straight circular connector provides 12 pins, giving the feedback, temperature, and supply leads dedicated contacts. The auxiliary conductors provide +5 VDC, 9 VDC, and COM connections, allowing compatible feedback components and the embedded temperature sensor to operate without separate harnesses. This arrangement also keeps the shield connection organized within the single cable assembly and reduces the number of individual conductors that must be routed between the motor and drive.
