Product Description:
The PWR-AKM-015M-MCS-000-14-6H motor power cable is manufactured by Kollmorgen and belongs to the Kollmorgen Servo Cables series. It links AKM servo motors to compatible drives, carrying electrical power so the actuator can be energized and stopped on command within industrial automation cells. Three color-coded conductors labeled U, V, and W deliver balanced phase current from the inverter to the stator windings. This arrangement supports controlled motor operation during acceleration, steady motion, and deceleration.
The cable uses a Hi-Flex Power insulation system, so repeated bending in energy chains does not fatigue the jacket. Its length of 15 m supports direct routing across medium-sized gantries without requiring midspan junction boxes. Each power core has a wire size of 14 AWG, providing low resistance while maintaining flexibility in tight machine spaces. A tinned copper braid and foil layer create a shielded envelope that minimizes electromagnetic emissions near feedback lines. The selected wire gauge also limits thermal rise during the high current peaks associated with servo acceleration. Reduced radiated noise helps protect resolver and encoder signals when their cables follow nearby routing paths.
The cable includes a separate pair for the holding brake, allowing the drive to control the motor brake through the same cable assembly. At the drive end, the assembly is supplied with wire leads that can be terminated using screw clamps, spring cages, or crimp contacts. The motor interface uses a straight molded connector that fits directly into the AKM housing. A minimum bend radius of 12 × O.D. must be maintained behind the connector backshell to prevent excessive mechanical stress. An additional green-and-yellow conductor marked PE connects the cable shield and motor frame to protective earth. This dedicated grounding path helps direct fault and leakage currents away from bearings, couplings, and signal wiring while supporting proper grounding for motor power installations.
