The M.1302.8617 is a hybrid servo feedback cable produced by Kollmorgen for the Kollmorgen Servo Cables series. The assembly connects a sine-encoder-equipped motor to the matching drive, carrying sensor signals and low-voltage supply rails between the machine axis and control cabinet. By mating with the F1/F2 port on Kollmorgen drives, it forms the feedback path needed for precise position and velocity regulation in industrial automation systems.
The cable has a flex-rated jacket, meaning the insulation and braid withstand constant flexing in cable carriers without cracking. With a reach of 30 m (98.4 ft), the cable can span long machine beds without intermediate junctions. Its composite core uses a 7x2x28 + 1x2x16 + 1x2x22 AWG conductor arrangement that separates encoder, power, and temperature circuits to minimize crosstalk. The drive-side connector exits at a 45° angle, allowing low-profile routing inside crowded cabinets. It terminates in a 15-pin HD D-Sub male connector that mates directly with Kollmorgen drive hardware. On the motor end, a straight molded plug with 17 pins provides a sealed interface, and its orientation helps prevent torsional stress during installation.
The feedback chain uses a sine-encoder format, so the cable carries differential COS±, SIN±, DATA±, and CLOCK± pairs for high-resolution interpolation. A minimum bend radius of 10 times the outside diameter must be maintained to preserve impedance balance and strand integrity during dynamic motion. Communication supports BiSS or EnDat 2.1 protocols, giving the drive digital access to absolute position while keeping the analog sine channels available. Power for the onboard transducer is delivered through separate conductors that supply 5 VDC and 9 VDC. Thermal pins assigned to Drive 11 and Motor 7/14 relay the stator temperature, allowing the controller to reduce current when winding temperature limits are approached.
