The M.1302.8615 is a servo feedback cable produced by Kollmorgen within the Kollmorgen Servo Cables series. It forms the dedicated link between a sine encoder on AKM or DDR synchronous motors and the F1/F2 feedback port of a Kollmorgen drive, conveying position and velocity data through shielded conductors with controlled impedance. By maintaining low-noise transmission during torsional movement, the assembly supports precise closed-loop control in automated pick-and-place units, packaging lines, and other multi-axis industrial machinery.
The cable contains one 16 AWG pair for encoder power, one 22 AWG pair for auxiliary signals, and seven 28 AWG pairs that carry differential sine and cosine channels plus reference markers. This conductor arrangement keeps crosstalk low while minimizing the outside diameter, and individually foil-shielded pairs with an overall braid improve noise immunity in cabinets containing fast-switching inverters. Its high-flexibility jacket and finely stranded copper conductors withstand repeated bending without premature conductor fatigue, making the assembly suitable for long-travel drag-chain installations. The cable has an overall length of 9 m, which helps keep signal rise times within the operating tolerances of the drive’s high-resolution interpolation circuitry.
At the drive end, an angled backshell positions the cable close to the panel wall, and a 15-pin HD male D-Sub connector mates directly with the controller receptacle. A pair of thumbscrews secures the connector against vibration during repeated axis acceleration, while the backshell supports the cable near the termination point. The motor end has a straight molded plug that mates with the encoder housing on a compatible servo motor. The system provides absolute feedback, allowing the sine encoder to deliver stored position information after power-up without requiring a separate homing cycle. Its sine-encoder format is compatible with the analog interpolation channels inside the drive.
