Product Description:
The M.1302.8613 feedback cable is produced by Kollmorgen for the Kollmorgen Servo Cables series. It serves as the signal link between a Kollmorgen servo motor and its drive, routing encoder data, logic power, and reference lines through a single flex-rated harness. Within automated machinery, the cable enables precise closed-loop control by carrying real-time position information from the motor’s feedback device directly to the drive’s F1/F2 port. This consolidated connection reduces the number of separate signal cables required between the motor and drive while maintaining dedicated paths for feedback communication and encoder power.
At the drive end, the assembly terminates in a 15-pin HD male D-sub connector with an angled connector body that clears adjacent hardware inside control panels. The opposite motor end uses a straight M23 plug that mates with standard Kollmorgen encoders. Internally, one 16 AWG pair, one 22 AWG pair, and seven 28 AWG pairs separate power, reference, and differential signal paths while maintaining balanced impedance. The cable has an overall length of 1 m, and its high-flex jacket material is suitable for continuous cable-chain operation. A dedicated conductor delivers the encoder’s +5 VDC logic supply. Data is exchanged through the BiSS or EnDat 2.1 protocol, allowing automatic device recognition and high-speed position updates without additional adapter boards.
To meet Kollmorgen Smart Feedback requirements, the cable supports absolute position feedback, preserving shaft position after a loss of power. It also supports single-turn or multi-turn counting, so the same assembly can serve limited-travel actuators or axes that complete multiple revolutions. Position information originates from a sine encoder transducer, whose differential pairs transmit analog quadrature signals that the drive interpolates for smooth motion profiles. The signal pairs are shielded and connected by drain wires to the connector shells, helping suppress electromagnetic interference along moving cable carriers. Tinned copper strands provide corrosion resistance during long-term service in dynamic automation equipment. The flex-rated harness supports repetitive movement while protecting the internal conductors from strain caused by routing through moving machinery.
