Product Description:
The M.1302.8604 feedback cable is produced by Kollmorgen within the Kollmorgen Servo Cables series. Designed for dynamic machine axes, it links a motor-mounted encoder to the matching drive controller so that position, velocity, and temperature information can reach the control loops without interference. Signal pairs and low-voltage supply conductors are bundled in one flex-rated assembly, simplifying routing through cable chains. The cable supports closed-loop applications such as pick-and-place equipment, packaging machinery, and synchronized conveyors in industrial automation cells.
Internally, the cable carries eight pairs of 28 AWG primary conductors that transmit the differential A, A/, B, B/, I, I/, S1, S2, and S3 channels from the incremental encoder. A separate pair of 16 AWG auxiliary conductors is reserved for the positive and negative temperature sensor signals. The conductors use a twisted-pair layout and are protected by foil and braid shielding to reduce electromagnetic coupling when the cable is routed beside motor power leads. Its flex-rated design supports continuous movement along cable carriers while maintaining reliable connections over a length of 30 m. The cable is compatible with an incremental commutating encoder, and its feedback signals connect to the drive through port F1/F2 for clear identification during cabinet wiring.
At the controller end, an angled plug provides a D-sub 15-pin HD male interface, allowing the hood to clear adjacent connectors while keeping the strain relief inside the enclosure. The straight motor end positions each conductor in a keyed receptacle with 17 pins, which helps prevent an incorrect connection during installation or service. The assembly supports logic and encoder excitation supplies of 9 VDC and +5 VDC. For dynamic routing, bends must maintain a minimum radius of 12 times the cable diameter to protect the conductors and shielding during repeated movement. The angled controller connection, straight motor connection, and flex-rated jacket accommodate moving-axis installations where the cable repeatedly travels through a carrier.
