Product Description:
The M.1302.8545 is a dedicated motor power and brake cable supplied by Kollmorgen for use within the Kollmorgen Servo Cables series. It links a drive amplifier to a compatible servo motor, carrying phase current, brake control, and protective earth conductors through one cable assembly. This arrangement provides the motor with operating power while allowing the drive system to control a connected brake. The cable matches the mechanical interfaces and electrical requirements of compatible Kollmorgen motion products used in assembly cells, pick-and-place gantries, and other industrial automation equipment.
The cable is intended for brake-equipped motors and includes a prewired brake circuit, eliminating the need to add separate brake conductors. Its fixed length of 3 m, or approximately 9.8 ft, supports short cabinet-to-motor runs while helping limit voltage drop. The outer jacket uses a Hi-Flex construction that tolerates repeated bending in moving cable carriers without subjecting the internal conductors to excessive strain. The conductors are sized at 16 AWG, providing an appropriate cross-sectional area for the continuous current drawn by compatible mid-frame AKM and KBM motors. Proper routing should maintain the permitted bend radius and prevent the jacket from rubbing against sharp cabinet or machine edges.
The motor end uses a straight keyed connector that aligns with compatible Kollmorgen mating flanges when sufficient axial clearance is available. Its keyed design helps maintain the correct connector orientation and prevents improper engagement with the motor receptacle. At the drive end, the power conductors terminate in a Size 1 ferrule set that fits the corresponding terminal insert. The brake conductors use a flying-lead configuration, allowing each wire to connect directly to screw or spring terminals inside the control cabinet. These separate drive-side terminations allow the motor power and brake circuits to connect to their respective terminals without modifying the supplied cable ends. The flexible jacket also supports routing through moving machine sections where repeated travel would place greater stress on a conventional stationary cable.
