Product Description:
The M.1302.8301 servo communication cable is manufactured by Kollmorgen as part of the Kollmorgen Servo Cables series. It is intended for motion-control systems that rely on real-time Ethernet links between a drive and its controller or I/O gateway. The cable provides a dedicated electrical connection that helps maintain deterministic signaling across automated conveyors, pick-and-place gantries, and multi-axis machining centers. Its integrated design also simplifies routing between compatible network devices in industrial control systems.
It is built as a CAT5e patch cord, so its differential pairs support 100 MHz signaling for standard EtherCAT or Ethernet/IP servo buses. Inside the jacket, eight conductors are arranged as four pairs, providing dedicated paths for transmitting and receiving data. The cable terminates in two 8-pin RJ-45 plugs that latch into common drive, controller, or switch sockets without requiring special tools. Its factory-cut length of 10 m provides sufficient reach across medium-sized control enclosures while keeping propagation delay within allowable node limits. Each pair uses a twisted-pair layout to minimize crosstalk and preserve impedance balance during continuous movement. This conductor arrangement supports stable high-frequency communication when the cable is routed near other control wiring.
The signal orientation uses a straight-through pinout, providing one-to-one contact mapping between the connectors and eliminating crossover concerns during installation. Electromagnetic interference is diverted through a full-coverage screen that keeps the cable shielded along its entire length. The drain wire terminates at the connector hardware through a shell drain contact, which bonds the screen to the cabinet ground. Individual conductor strands are sized at 28 AWG, reducing the cable diameter and bending moment so the assembly can be routed through energy chains with limited space. The compact conductors also reduce mechanical loading at the connector entry points during repetitive movement. Proper grounding of the shield helps protect signal integrity when the cable operates near motors, drives, and other sources of electrical noise.
