The M.1302.8288 cable is produced by Kollmorgen within the Kollmorgen Servo Cables series. This premade assembly provides a dedicated communication path between servo drives and higher-level controllers in industrial automation cells. It is intended for panel-mounted or machine-mounted routing where stable Ethernet-based feedback and command traffic must be maintained despite electrical noise near inverters. The cable supports deterministic motion networks used by AKD family drives, allowing nodes to be connected without field termination while preserving the required impedance and shielding characteristics.
Classified as a CAT5e patch cord, the cable supports data rates up to 1000 Mbps over a 100 MHz channel, meeting the needs of real-time motion buses. Its core consists of 8 conductors arranged as four differential pairs that carry transmit and receive signals. Each strand is sized at 28 AWG, which allows a smaller bend radius so the cord can fit through tight cable ducts. The cable uses overall foil-and-braid shielding to attenuate electromagnetic interference from nearby servo power lines. Both ends terminate in molded 8-pin RJ-45 plugs, allowing quick connection to standard Ethernet jacks on drives and switches. A consistent impedance is maintained across the factory-cut length of 2.0 m, which accommodates typical distances between cabinet components without leaving excessive slack.
The signal pairs use a twisted-pair geometry to minimize crosstalk and maintain a consistent differential impedance. On the controller side, the assembly connects to the dedicated C4 port. The opposite connector can be routed to the designated IN or OUT port, allowing the network to continue to a subsequent axis without breakout hardware. A drain wire bonded to the connector shell routes induced common-mode current to chassis ground and supports electromagnetic compatibility. The compact outer jacket remains flexible across normal machine operating temperatures, allowing the plug to latch securely when the cable is routed through grommets or supported cable carriers.
