The M.1302.8286 Ethernet patch cord is produced by Kollmorgen as part of the Kollmorgen Servo Cables series. This preassembled communication lead connects servo drives, motion controllers, and PLC I/O modules to an industrial Ethernet switch or master node inside a machine cabinet. Its preassembled design eliminates manual termination and provides a consistent connection for deterministic fieldbus architectures. Molded connectors also reduce the risk of loose conductors or incorrect pin assignments during installation.
Built to the CAT5e performance class, the cord supports data rates up to 1 Gb/s over a 100 MHz channel, meeting the requirements of real-time motion networks. Each contact inside the molded RJ-45 plug is linked to one of the cable’s 8 individually insulated conductors, giving every differential pair a dedicated pathway for transmitting and receiving data. The conductors are made of finely stranded 28 AWG copper, which minimizes flex fatigue when the cable is routed through a servo-axis cable track. A continuous aluminum-polyester layer and braided screen provide a shielded construction that suppresses electromagnetic interference from switching drives and high-power motor leads in the same enclosure. This screening helps preserve communication quality when the cord is installed near electrically noisy equipment.
The cord has a fixed length of 0.6 m (2.0 ft), allowing short jumper runs between neighboring rack devices without excess slack. Signal integrity is further maintained by the twisted-pair layout, which balances impedance and reduces crosstalk between adjacent signal paths. The straight-through wiring topology preserves the pin order between both ends for standard Ethernet port assignments. Shield continuity is achieved through a dedicated drain wire that bonds the cable screen to the connector shield and cabinet ground through the mating port. Legacy 100BASE-TX equipment uses pins 1, 2, 3, and 6 for data, while Gigabit Ethernet uses all four conductor pairs. This arrangement allows the patch cord to connect compatible Ethernet devices operating at different supported network speeds.
