Product Description:
The M.1302.5990 is an application-specific servo interconnect produced by Kollmorgen within the Kollmorgen Servo Cables series. It links an MMC motion controller to a Smart Drive so that command, feedback, and low-voltage power signals can pass between axes without separate harnesses, reducing cabinet wiring in industrial automation cells. The jacket uses a shielded twisted-pair construction that limits crosstalk among encoder, I/O, and auxiliary lines.
A total length of 0.5 m keeps the cable run inside the control enclosure, minimizing propagation delay. Inside the sheath are 18 individual conductors that allocate pairs to feedback signals A, A/, B, B/, I, and I/, as well as to the IO24V, IOCOM, IN1, IN2, and OUT4 control lines. The controller end terminates in a 15-pin HD D-Sub male plug that mates directly with the MMC front panel and aligns with the MMC Axis A'n' port, allowing incremental encoder signals and discrete inputs to share a compact header. A drain-wire shield termination routes high-frequency noise to ground. The auxiliary group includes DCIN+, DCIN-, DCOUT1, DCOUT2, and DCOSS, and its twisted arrangement helps prevent switching spikes from contaminating the position channels.
The drive side is fitted with a 26-pin HD D-Sub male connector keyed for the Smart Drive backplane and registered as the MMC Smart Drive I/O interface. Two power conductors use 20 AWG wire to carry the 24 V DC feed to the encoder, while the remaining signal conductors use 28 AWG wire to keep the overall cable diameter small. Factory jumper links connect DCIN- to COM and route DCOSS to +24 V DC, eliminating separate splice blocks when supplying brake or sensor power. A dedicated drain contacts the cabinet ground bar at the drive end, maintaining shield continuity through both connectors. This grounding path helps divert coupled electrical noise away from the low-voltage feedback and control conductors during operation.
