The M.1015.7932 servo cable is manufactured by Kollmorgen and supplied within the Kollmorgen Servo Cables series. Designed for industrial automation, this preterminated assembly links a Kollmorgen drive to associated motor feedback or I/O hardware through the dedicated J2 interface. It carries power, signals, and shielding in a single harness, simplifying cabinet wiring and cable routing throughout the machine. The preassembled connectors also eliminate the need to terminate individual conductors during installation.
The cable is delivered in a continuous run of 15 m (50 ft), allowing direct connection between a control cabinet and moving axes without intermediate junctions. The current-carrying conductors are made from tinned copper, which resists corrosion while maintaining low electrical resistance during repeated movement. At the drive side, the cable terminates in a 20-pin Mini D-shell plug assigned to the J2 port, and the opposite end uses the same connector geometry for closed-loop wiring. Internal braid and foil provide at least 85% shield coverage, and the shield is bonded to ground at both plugs to reduce radiated electrical noise. The cable supports dynamic applications with a 129.54 mm (5.10 in) minimum bend radius, helping protect internal conductors from excessive mechanical stress. Its continuous construction avoids additional connection points that could interrupt shielding or introduce unwanted signal resistance.
Mechanical protection is provided by molded and potted connector bodies, which block fluid ingress and eliminate exposed assembly fasteners. The outer jacket is made from a thermoplastic elastomer, providing abrasion resistance and flexibility across standard machine operating temperatures. Inside the strain-relieved housings, the contacts are overmolded with black PVC to stabilize the terminations during repeated cable movement. The assembly supports continuous operation at temperatures up to 105 °C without losing dielectric strength. Electromagnetic integrity is maintained by 360° backshells at both ends, which clamp the shield around its full circumference and provide a low-impedance grounding path. Individual conductors use polyvinyl chloride insulation, providing consistent wall thickness and electrical isolation during repetitive flexing.
