Product Description:
The F5-12-FB4-A3-00-004000 is a servo feedback cable manufactured by Kollmorgen for the Kollmorgen Servo Cables series. It connects AKM motors equipped with SpeedTec connectors to AKD2G dual-axis drives, transferring resolver or encoder signals between the motor and controller. This model has no brake cores, so separate wiring is required if the connected motor uses a brake. The assembly is intended for moving axes in industrial automation cells, where repeated flexing requires stable signal transmission and durable insulation.
The cable has a fixed length of 4 m, providing a premeasured span for short machine runs without field termination. Its polyvinyl chloride jacket gives it an outside diameter of 10.5 mm, allowing the cable to fit standard 11 mm drag-chain separators while accommodating individually shielded pairs. At the drive end, a 45° hood forms a right-offset plug that reduces the required cabinet depth when the cable is connected to the controller. The feedback conductors terminate in a D-Sub connector with 15 contacts assigned to encoder power, differential channels, and signal common. The complete harness has a mass of 0.141 kg/m, which limits tensile loading on fast-moving carriages and cable supports.
During dynamic operation, the cable requires a minimum bend radius of 63 mm to protect its jacket and internal conductors during repeated movement in energy chains. Static routing permits a smaller minimum bend radius of 42 mm, allowing compact loops inside enclosures and fixed cable trays. The cable supports carrier travel distances of up to 50 m, making it suitable for extended moving-axis routes. Its supported travel velocity reaches 5 m/s, while the maximum acceleration is 3 m/s². These operating limits correspond to motion systems that use compatible AKD2G-SP drives. The SpeedTec connection at the motor end allows quick engagement and helps preserve ingress protection when the connector is properly mated.
