Product Description:
The ENC-AKM-006M-MCS-DCA-28-NA is a feedback and power cable produced by Kollmorgen for the Kollmorgen Servo Cables series. It links AKM servo motors to compatible servo drives, carrying incremental encoder signals, commutation references, and low-voltage power. These connections allow the motion controller to read rotor position in real time and energize onboard electronics during industrial automation tasks. A straight housing on the motor side simplifies installation where limited clearance restricts cable routing around the machine frame.
This assembly has a length of 6 m, providing sufficient reach for typical cabinet-to-axis routing. Its jacket is intended for static installation, where continuous flexing is not expected. Signal conductors are sized at 28 AWG and arranged as eight twisted pairs to limit crosstalk among the A/A-, B/B-, and I/I- encoder channels. The feedback bundle terminates at the drive with a 15-pin HD D-Sub male connector, while the motor end uses a straight 17-pin circular plug that connects to the AKM motor feedback interface. Incremental feedback is provided through the A, B, and index tracks. The commutating encoder signals provide phase information so the drive can align current vectors immediately at startup.
An auxiliary power pair with 16 AWG conductors delivers 9 VDC to optional sensors, while the encoder electronics receive a regulated +5 VDC reference from the drive. Rotor position initialization is supported by the S1, S2, and S3 commutation tracks. The D-Sub hood uses a 45-degree cable exit, reducing bend stress directly behind the cabinet connector. The straight motor connector has 17 contact positions for the required feedback, commutation, and power conductors. Its fixed-routing jacket and angled cabinet connection accommodate installations where the cable remains stationary after the drive and motor are connected.
