Product Description:
The ENC-AKM-001M-MCS-DCA-28-AA is an encoder feedback cable manufactured by Kollmorgen for use within the Kollmorgen Servo Cables series. It links an AKM servo motor to an AKD drive so that position information from the motor-mounted sensor reaches the controller without signal loss. The assembled cable provides a ready-made connection for industrial automation axes that rely on differential encoder signals.
This assembly is supplied in a 1 m length, allowing short, low-capacitance runs inside a cabinet or along a stationary machine frame. A 15-pin high-density D-Sub connector mates directly with the feedback port on AKD drives, while the opposite end uses an M23 17-pin connector that aligns with the encoder connection on AKM motors. The cable construction uses seven twisted pairs, each with 0.25 mm² stranded conductors for carrying differential channels. An outside diameter of 9.65 mm keeps routing space compact, and a tinned copper braid surrounds the core pairs to block electromagnetic noise. The cable withstands repeated machine movement at a minimum bend radius of 96.5 mm. Its insulation system supports up to 300 V between the conductors and ground, providing ample capacity for typical encoder supply circuits.
Individual core colors simplify termination work and fault tracing throughout the cable assembly. Braid coverage is rated at at least 85%, helping maintain signal integrity when the feedback cable is routed beside motor power cables. A 105 °C thermal rating, combined with the braided shield and UL 20327 AWM style, supports installation in North American control panels. The purple, oil-resistant sheath is molded from TPE, providing abrasion resistance while keeping the cable flexible at low temperatures. When connected, the motor-side connector provides IP66/IP67 sealing and tolerates temperatures from -20 to 130 °C around the coupling, supporting use in washdown areas and high-temperature locations near servo gearboxes.
