The DE-91811 feedback cable is supplied by Kollmorgen for the Kollmorgen Servo Cables series. It functions as the dedicated link between a SERVOSTAR amplifier and the motor-mounted encoder, transferring position, temperature, and supply signals through one composite harness. By combining signal integrity features with preassembled connectors, the cable simplifies field wiring and helps automated axes operate reliably in assembly, packaging, and material-handling equipment.
At the drive cabinet, the assembly terminates in a D-sub socket fitted with fifteen gold-plated contacts that mate directly with the feedback port. Its overall reach of 15 m suits medium-span installations while remaining below the 50-meter system limit. Seven color-coded twisted pairs carry logic signals and sensor power, and each conductor has a cross-sectional area of 0.25 mm² (24 AWG) to minimize voltage drop over the run. A continuous foil-and-braid screen gives the unit a shielded construction that blocks external noise and helps preserve sharp digital signal edges. Multi-protocol compatibility supports EnDat, HIPERFACE, and BiSS encoders, allowing the same cable to carry incremental or absolute feedback signals without rewiring.
On the motor side, signals pass through a circular M23 connector containing seventeen contacts arranged for data, power, and thermistor leads. Controlled geometry keeps mutual capacitance below 120 pF/m, preserving timing margins at high transmission rates. Internally, the pairs follow a 7x(2x0.25) layout bundled inside LiYCY (TP) PVC that resists oil and repeated flexing. Thermal monitoring conductors are prewired, and the harness includes over-temperature protection that enables the drive to shut down when excessive heat is detected. Shield continuity is maintained by bonding the braid to both connector housings, while the twisted-pair arrangement and 50-meter maximum cable length support routing through machine conduits without additional junction boxes.
