The BH-226-E-63 is a brushless servo motor manufactured by Kollmorgen for the Kollmorgen Goldline B and BH Motors series. It is intended for high-precision motion axes in packaging lines, pick-and-place robots, and electronic assembly cells where predictable velocity and position loops are required. By supplying carefully metered torque across its speed range, the motor provides the mechanical link between a digital drive and the machine load.

At the electrical interface, the motor runs from 480 VAC three-phase supplies typically generated by Kollmorgen SERVOSTAR drives. Under continuous duty, it outputs 1.7 kW and can hold 5.6 N·m at stall; this is the static load the axis can sustain indefinitely at 40 °C ambient when the housing is cooled by convection. Short overloads permit up to 10.5 N·m, assisting acceleration and positioning under high-friction or gravity-loaded conditions. Top speed reaches 3200 rpm, enabling rapid index cycles in pick-and-place heads or feed rolls. Its 92 mH line-to-line inductance helps moderate current ripple and reduce conductor heating. The higher electrical time constant can also require slightly lower proportional-integral gains in the drive to maintain bandwidth.

Peak winding demand is 6 ARMS, while continuous operation draws 3 ARMS, and these values help match the motor with an appropriate drive and cable set. A rotor inertia of 0.0002512 kg·m² supports quick response while preserving load stability during changes in speed. Thermal protection is handled by a switch that opens at 170 °C and resets at 132 °C, interrupting excitation before insulation limits are exceeded. The 7.6 kg frame connects through an Interconnectron connector, and mating plugs are not included. Position data is provided by a frameless resolver, which gives the drive the rotor angle needed for commutation and closed-loop control. Because the motor has no shaft seal, the installation area must remain dry to help prevent bearing contamination.
