The B-404-C-21 is a servo motor produced by Kollmorgen. The servo motor is highly efficient when it comes to torque generation. Despite a compact size, the motor has the capacity to deliver a large amount of torque because of an impressive torque to volume ratio. The B-404-C-21 can accelerate at a very fast pace because its rotor has low inertia. Because of low inertia, the motor is ideal for use in dynamic industrial environments where high intensity reciprocating motion is needed. The motor comes with electromagnetic fail-safe brakes that are very useful when it comes to an emergency stop and static parking functions. With an 8 Nm holding torque, the motor can instantly brake and decelerate. With an 18.8 A peak current, this model is capable of delivering a 7.4 Nm continuous torque.
The B-404-C-21 has been designed in accordance with high standards of protection and safety. The outer enclosure has been designed according to the IP 65 standard and is safe from potential damages caused by oily liquids, water jets, and non-corrosive materials. With the use of specially designed sealing rings, the IP 67 protection standard can also ben implemented on the motor. Under IP 67 standard, the motor can sustain a 5 psi pressure underwater. It can be submerged in a water depth of 6 feet for half an hour. This model has a class H insulated armature. Class H insulation materials enable the motor windings to sustain temperatures as high as 180 ᵒC. The B-404-C-21 is also compatible with front mounted gearheads and NEMA mountings.
