Product Description:

The M.1015.8014 servo motor is produced by Kollmorgen within the HSM Brushless Servo Motors series. This brushless AC unit delivers controlled torque and velocity to positioning tables, pick-and-place axes, and other automated machinery. An integrated electromechanical brake holds stationary loads when power is removed, allowing the motor to support vertical axes and other applications that require load retention. The motor connects to compatible Kollmorgen drives that support sinusoidal or square-wave commutation.

The main windings are rated for 230 VAC, and the rotor can reach 3000 rpm. Continuous operation at that speed is supported by a thermal path with a thermal resistance of 0.24 °C/W. The shaft can accept a radial load of 270 lb at full speed. A square-wave torque constant of 0.77 Nm/A provides predictable current-to-torque conversion. The factory-installed holding brake operates on 24 VDC and requires 1.30 ADC to release. When engaged, the brake supplies 31.1 Nm of static holding torque. The complete motor and brake assembly weighs 39.2 kg, while the motor alone has a mass of 34.8 kg. The brake adds 0.0037 kg-m² of inertia at the load side.

The motor uses 8 permanent-magnet poles, which establish the electrical frequency required by the drive. A rotor inertia of 0.0034 kg-m² supports dynamic response during rapid indexing and speed changes. The back electromotive force follows a voltage constant of 85 V/krpm, allowing the drive to account for generated voltage as shaft speed increases. The stator has 1.2 mH of winding inductance, which helps filter current ripple during switching. A winding resistance of 0.12 ohm limits copper loss during continuous operation. These electrical properties support controlled acceleration, deceleration, and velocity regulation when the motor is paired with a suitable servo drive.
