Product Description:

The DSM1150 SERCOS is a digital servo drive produced by Kollmorgen within the DSA SERCOS Drives series. Designed for fiber-optic SERCOS rings, the unit interfaces with coordinated motion controllers to regulate the torque, velocity, and position of brushless motors in automated machinery. By converting three-phase mains power into precisely modulated output currents, it forms the power stage needed to operate actuators in packaging lines, robotic axes, and other high-performance industrial applications.

At 230 VAC, the drive can supply a continuous shaft power of 15 kW, supported by a sustained output current of 65 A from zero to peak. For fast acceleration, it allows an intermittent output current of 150 A from zero to peak, giving machines the capacity to overcome inertia without requiring an oversized motor. The current loop refreshes every 125 µs, while the velocity loop closes every 250 µs. These short update intervals allow the amplifier to respond to load disturbances before they cause substantial mechanical deviations. Eight optically isolated digital inputs and four sourcing digital outputs connect local sensors and interlocks directly to the control board.

Dynamic braking energy is managed by an internal shunt that can absorb peaks of up to 18 kW, while a 265 J reservoir protects the DC bus during sudden deceleration. The mains input draws a nominal 46 A RMS and tolerates an inrush current of 68 A RMS when the drive is first energized. Position corrections are updated every 1 ms, keeping multi-axis interpolation synchronized with the SERCOS ring. A single communication loop can support as many as 32 axes, and TTL feedback frequencies up to 2.5 MHz are accepted for high-resolution encoders. Fiber-optic cabling provides communication that resists electrical noise in industrial environments. The 14.1 kg housing is designed for installation in standard control cabinets without external cooling accessories.
