Product Description:
The DSM015P servo drive is manufactured by Kollmorgen as part of the DSA SERCOS Drives series. Mounted inside a control cabinet, the unit converts single-phase AC mains power into regulated motor power while exchanging real-time position data across a SERCOS fiber-optic ring. By providing closed-loop current and velocity control, it forms the electrical interface between a motion controller and the mechanical axis in automated packaging, assembly, or material-handling equipment.
The drive accepts a single-phase input of 100–240 Vrms at 47–63 Hz, making it compatible with a broad range of supply voltages. Cabinet conductors must accommodate a nominal current draw of 9 Arms, and inrush limiting addresses startup surges that can reach 100 A from zero to peak. At 230 V, the drive can deliver 1.0 kW of continuous output power, supported by a continuous motor current of 5 A from zero to peak. During rapid acceleration, the drive current can rise to 15 A from zero to peak without saturating the output stage. Motion commands enter through a ±10 V analog port with a 14-bit analog-to-digital converter, while a separate limit channel uses a 0–10 V signal with 10-bit resolution to limit torque in real time.
The control section provides eight optically isolated 12–24 V digital inputs, four optically isolated 12–24 V digital outputs, and a relay contact rated for 30 VDC at 1 A for safety interlocks. Up to 64 indexed moves can be stored locally, enabling limited standalone operation without continuous command input from the main controller. Internal power loss is limited to 48 W with support from a dissipative shunt, and reliable operation is supported at temperatures from 0 to 55 °C. An analog current-limit port enforces current ceilings independently of the main command channel. The aluminum housing weighs 2.1 kg, allowing the drive to fit compact cabinet installations while accommodating the thermal load produced by its power electronics.
