The DSM007P is a single-axis servo drive produced by Kollmorgen for the DSA SERCOS Drives series. Designed for motion modules that communicate over the SERCOS interface, the unit converts network commands into controlled motor current while managing position loops for industrial automation equipment such as pick-and-place heads and small conveyors. By combining power output, feedback handling, and I/O in a compact enclosure, the drive serves as the intermediary between a machine controller and a rotary or linear servomotor.
The drive accepts an analog position reference of ±10 V, and that bipolar range lets external motion cards issue velocity or position commands without additional signal scaling. A command input impedance of 13 kΩ minimizes loading on upstream circuitry so the reference voltage remains stable. During continuous operation, the power stage can deliver 2.5 A of output current, while brief accelerations are supported by a peak capability of 7.5 A. The line supply demand is limited to 5 Arms, and internal losses total only 48 W of heat, simplifying cabinet cooling. A 5 VDC encoder supply is available for feedback devices, and eight position moves can be stored locally to reduce network traffic during repetitive sequences.
For fast feedback processing, the auxiliary encoder channel accepts counts up to 4 MHz, matching high-resolution scales used in precision axes. Motion profiles are triggered through four selectable digital inputs and reported by two configurable outputs, giving basic handshake capability without extra I/O cards. Energy storage is provided by a DC bus capacitance of 1410 µF, which smooths regenerative surges.
