The DSA 015-230-P is an AC servo drive module built by Kollmorgen for the DSA SERCOS Drives series. The unit interfaces with a SERCOS network and supplies regulated three-phase power to a matched servo motor, enabling closed-loop velocity and position control in automated assembly lines, packaging cells, and material handling stations. By combining power electronics with digital motion control, the drive translates high-level commands from a PLC into precisely timed current pulses that generate torque in the attached motor.

The power stage delivers a continuous output of 5 A peak at 1.0 kW, providing steady torque during sustained motion profiles. For short acceleration bursts, the amplifier can reach 15 A peak, while line protection must accommodate a momentary inrush of 100 A peak when the bus capacitors charge. Feed power is drawn from a three-phase mains supply at 9 Arms, matching typical 230 V industrial panels. The current loop refreshes every 125 microseconds, allowing rapid correction of motor phase current, and the drive accepts feedback pulses up to 2.5 MHz per channel from TTL encoders. Eight digital inputs and four digital outputs support local I/O tasks such as limit switch sensing, brake release, or axis-ready signaling without extra hardware.

Higher-level motion algorithms are handled by a velocity loop that updates every 250 microseconds and a position loop that recalculates every 1 ms, so the controller can execute up to 64 indexed moves in sequence without host intervention.
