The DSA 015-230 is a servo drive manufactured by Kollmorgen within the DSA SERCOS Drives series. Acting as the power stage between a SERCOS motion controller and a brushless motor, it rectifies incoming line power, shapes three-phase output currents, and exchanges status data over the fiber-optic ring. The unit serves automated machines that require synchronized, closed-loop axis movement, such as small gantries, pick-and-place modules, and light packaging stations. By integrating power electronics and communication in one compact housing, it simplifies cabinet layouts while providing consistent motor regulation for industrial automation tasks.

With a single-phase 230 V supply, the drive draws a nominal input of 9 A RMS and converts it into regulated motor power. Continuous axis demand is supported at 1.0 kW, delivered through a phase current of 5 A zero-to-peak, while short accelerations can reach 15 A zero-to-peak. The internal three-phase sinusoidal space-vector modulation commutation keeps torque ripple low. A resistor bank dissipates 51 J of regenerated energy. A soft-start circuit limits inrush current to 100 A at power-up. The analog monitor channel supplies 2 mA for proportional feedback to external indicators.

The control interface provides 8 digital inputs and 4 digital outputs that react within 100 µs, enabling tight coordination with external sensors and actuators. Incremental TTL encoders can be read at 2.5 MHz for high-speed position loops. A Form C relay rated at 1 A and 30 VDC supplies an isolated status contact for external circuits.
