The DSA 007-230-P servo drive is produced by Kollmorgen and belongs to the DSA SERCOS Drives series. It converts incoming AC power into precisely modulated motor current so a SERCOS motion controller can command torque, velocity, and position on a connected servomotor. By closing the control loops inside the drive, the unit supports compact, panel-mounted automation axes that require fast, deterministic communication. Its design suits indexing, transfer, and positioning duties where stable response and synchronized network updates are important.

The drive delivers a continuous output of 2.5 A (0-peak), allowing small to mid-frame motors to hold rated torque without overheating. For short demand peaks, it can supply 7.5 A (0-peak), giving extra acceleration headroom before current limiting engages. The input side draws 5 A RMS under nominal load, yet the initial energizing surge can rise to 100 A (0-peak), so cabinet wiring and fusing must tolerate inrush at startup. When operated from 230 V mains, the unit can furnish 0.5 kW of mechanical power to the motor shaft. Eight digital inputs and four digital outputs let the drive exchange status, limit, and control signals with nearby machine devices, and a dedicated relay contact switches up to 1 A for line-level interlocks.

The control loops update rapidly: the current loop refreshes every 125 µs, the velocity loop every 250 µs, and the position loop every 1 ms, so following error stays low on fast indexing axes. From a 115 V supply, the drive can deliver 0.25 kW, and the DC bus can absorb regenerated energy from decelerating loads before an external resistor is needed. This helps the unit manage short braking events during repeated moves. The enclosure weighs 1.8 kg, which supports panel mounting where added mass and occupied space need to stay low.
