The DSA 007-230 is a servo drive from Kollmorgen’s DSA SERCOS Drives series that supplies regulated three-phase power to automation motors and exchanges motion data over a fiber-optic SERCOS ring. It combines power conversion and networked control in a compact housing. The unit sits between the machine PLC and the motor windings, maintaining commanded speed, position, and torque in packaging, material-handling, and assembly lines.

The power stage can deliver a continuous output current of 2.5 A (0-peak). This equates to continuous powers of 0.25 kW on 115 V mains and 0.5 kW on 230 V supplies, letting one drive cover both control cabinet voltages. Its current loop refreshes every 125 µsec, and the velocity loop updates after 250 µsec, giving tight torque regulation before mechanical effects can propagate. The controller provides 8 optically isolated digital inputs for limit switches or enable commands, while four digital outputs report status bits back to the PLC. A nominal input current of 5 Arms keeps feeder breakers small, and the position loop closure is handled separately at the SERCOS master’s rate.

Energy returned during deceleration is managed by internal absorbers that can dissipate 125 J at 115 V and 51 J at 230 V, preventing DC-bus overvoltage. Startup demands are contained by a maximum inrush of 100 A (0-peak), and short bursts of mechanical load are covered by a peak output capability of 7.5 A (0-peak). The position regulator refreshes every 1 ms, coordinating with the fast current and velocity loops to reduce following error. An onboard relay rated for 1 A and 30 VDC can switch brakes or interlocks without extra contactors. The cast-aluminum chassis weighs only 1.8 kg, easing installation on DIN rails or inside tight enclosures.
