The digifas 7204-LINK servo amplifier is produced by Kollmorgen within the DIGIFAS 7000 Servo Amplifiers series. It is intended to regulate torque and velocity for brushless or brushed servomotors in production lines, packaging cells, and other motion platforms where tight current control is necessary. By converting a high-voltage DC bus into finely modulated three-phase output, the device forms the interface between a machine controller and the motor windings. Its integrated brake supply and monitoring circuits reduce the need for external components.

Electrical performance centers on a rated DC bus voltage of 560 VDC. From this link, the unit supports a connected load of 2.5 kVA and supplies a continuous phase current of 4.2 Arms; short acceleration bursts are covered by a peak value of 8.4 Arms. Closed-loop regulation is aided by a current-loop bandwidth of 1 kHz, while the insulated-gate drivers switch at an 8.33 kHz carrier to limit ripple. Drives with motor inductances as low as 8 mH can therefore be stabilized without external chokes. The command interface draws little sourcing energy because its differential inputs present 20 kΩ of resistance, and thermal drift is held to ±30 µV per kelvin to support repeatable offset-free operation. Brake control is built in and can source up to 1 A for holding brakes during stops.

Thermal figures complement the electrical data. During nominal operation, the power stage dissipates 60 W, and only 15 W is lost when the amplifier idles, easing cabinet ventilation. Excess energy is routed to an internal ballast that activates at 720 V, while an independent trip disconnects the bus at 750 V to protect semiconductors. The aluminum housing measures 275 × 71 × 235 mm and weighs just 2.1 kg, permitting vertical mounting beside adjacent drives. Its narrow housing helps place multiple amplifiers side by side in a control cabinet.
