The digifas 7201 is a drive module produced by Kollmorgen and belongs to the DIGIFAS 7000 Servo Amplifiers series. It converts DC link energy into regulated motor current, allowing motion controllers to govern servo axes used in packaging lines, printing stations, and pick-and-place equipment. The unit is intended for cabinet installation because its IP20 enclosure is suited to use inside a closed control panel. This type of amplifier is commonly paired with centralized control hardware that sends motion commands to one or more servo axes.

An intermediate circuit voltage of 560 VDC feeds the output stage, which can supply a rated motor current of 1.5 Arms continuously and a peak of 3.0 Arms for short acceleration demands. The current loop closes at 1 kHz, while PWM switching occurs at 8.33 kHz, so torque commands are reproduced with low ripple during normal operation. Kollmorgen lists a minimum motor inductance of 25 mH to keep current rise within the controller's tuning range, and the output-current form factor of 1.01 indicates only slight waveform distortion. A 150 Ω ballast resistor rated for 75 W diverts regenerated energy, and a residual voltage drop of 5 V helps protect connected loads during commutation.

The amplifier dissipates heat through a power loss of 33 W at rated current and a standby loss of 15 W, so cabinet ventilation must remove that thermal load during operation and idle periods. Its apparent-power demand is limited to 0.9 kVA, which helps with supply-bus sizing in multi-axis systems. The aluminum housing measures 275 × 71 × 235 mm and weighs 2.1 kg, so the module remains compact for densely packed control cabinets. The narrow housing profile also leaves room for adjacent modules and cable routing in compact panels.
