Product Description:
The DIGIFAS 7116-L2/DP servo amplifier is produced by Kollmorgen as part of the DIGIFAS 7000 Servo Amplifiers series. It converts shared DC-bus energy in a multi-axis cabinet into phase-controlled motor currents, allowing CNC machines, packaging equipment, and material-handling systems to position and regulate loads accurately. An onboard PROFIBUS-DP node connects the power stage to higher-level motion controllers, allowing deterministic setpoint transfer and status feedback over the machine’s fieldbus network.
The unit operates from a DC link stabilized at 560 VDC, and its input resistance is 20 Ω. Under continuous load, the amplifier delivers 16 Arms, while short transients can reach a peak current of 32 Arms to help the motor overcome inertia or friction. Current regulation operates with a bandwidth of 1 kHz, providing a responsive torque-control loop. Pulse-width modulation switching occurs at 8.33 kHz, supporting smooth current delivery to low-inductance stators. Command data and diagnostic information travel over the integrated PROFIBUS-DP interface, which connects through a 9-pin D-Sub socket for convenient cabinet wiring.
A shutdown threshold of 750 V protects the semiconductor bridge against regenerative overvoltage. Excess energy is dissipated through a 200 W internal ballast resistor, while pulses reaching 10.4 kW require an external resistor with a resistance of at least 50 Ω. The amplifier supports motors with inductance as low as 2.5 mH, allowing it to operate with responsive servo motor windings. PROFIBUS cabling can be strain-relieved at the drive housing to reduce mechanical stress on the fieldbus connection. The housing measures 340 × 105 × 341 mm and weighs 7.9 kg, helping preserve cabinet space while allowing clearance for airflow around the heat sink.
