Product Description:
The D063A-12-9290007 direct drive motor is manufactured by Kollmorgen for the DDR Direct Drive Motors series. This frameless unit integrates into equipment as the primary rotary actuator, supplying continuous low-speed torque without mechanical transmission stages and supporting tightly controlled positioning tasks in industrial automation. The motor is supplied as a rotor-and-stator kit that bolts directly to the driven axis, eliminating shaft couplings, minimizing compliance, and improving servo bandwidth. Because torque is produced at the load axis, backlash is removed and positioning repeatability is improved compared with geared solutions.
The motor provides 19.7 N·m of continuous torque when mounted to a 40 °C machine base, allowing it to hold or move sizable payloads without overheating. When rapid acceleration is required, the electromagnetic design supports up to 51.5 N·m of peak torque for short intervals. Speed capability depends on the drive supply; the motor reaches 300 rpm with a 115 V drive for high-torque operation, while a 230 V drive raises the maximum speed to 500 rpm for faster indexing cycles. An outside diameter of 6.93 in suits compact rotary tables, and the long rotor stack increases the axial magnetic surface needed to sustain these torque levels without enlarging the radial footprint.
The winding set supports either rated input configuration, allowing equipment manufacturers to use the motor with different mains supplies. Position feedback comes from a resolver that interpolates up to 524,288 counts per revolution below 187 rpm, enabling fine velocity control at low speeds. Its absolute accuracy of ±270 arc-seconds and repeatability of ±2.48 arc-seconds support closed-loop applications that require consistent return-to-index performance. A straight connector simplifies cable routing, while the flange-mounted housing aligns the stator without additional brackets. The assembly is not sealed, so it must be installed in a clean environment or provided with suitable external protection against contaminants.
