Product Description:
The CTP31NLF45KAA00 is a hybrid stepper motor built by Kollmorgen for the CT Stepper Motors series. It converts discrete command pulses into indexed rotation for feeders, small gantries, and in-line inspection stations where repeatable positioning is required without closed-loop feedback. As part of the Cool Torque Performance Series, it delivers high holding torque within a compact NEMA 34 footprint and can replace legacy size 34 actuators without requiring a mechanical redesign in many existing machine layouts. Its hybrid construction supports steady incremental motion in systems that use pulse-and-direction control and need dependable stopping at commanded step positions.
With its Size 34 / 8.5 cm frame, the motor fits standard NEMA 34 layouts. Each phase draws 4.5 A, so the drive must supply that current for accurate microstepping. Under rated excitation, the CTP stator produces 4.0 N-m of holding torque. The shaft tolerates 100 lbs (45 kg) of axial load in either direction. Four pre-tinned leads in black, orange, red, and yellow simplify wiring, and their exit path aligns with the NEMA through-hole mounting pattern so cap screws can pass through the front flange before the conductors are routed on aluminum or steel machine plates. This arrangement helps the motor fit compact mounting faces where cable clearance and screw access are both limited.
Side loading is limited to 65 lbs (29 kg) at the shaft center, which helps protect the bearings when pulleys or gears are mounted. A 1 Stack lamination core balances torque density and heat rise during operation. The windings use a Bipolar configuration that matches the four-lead layout for direct bipolar drive operation. Power is transmitted through a shaft with a Straight Keyway, and the insulation system is rated for 340 VDC drives. The motor has no rear-mounted accessory configuration, so any encoder or brake must be added externally to the back of the unit if those functions are needed.
