As a hybrid unit, it converts pulse trains into discrete motion for pick-and-place heads, indexing tables, and other positioning axes used in automation cells. A single-stack rotor limits overall length, and the metric shaft permits direct coupling without extra adapters while supplying precise incremental rotation in a 42 mm square envelope.

Mechanical interfacing centers on a Size 17 frame with English-tapped holes that use #4-40 UNC-2B threads. The wiring exits as four leads, matching bipolar drives that energize its two phases. There are 200 full steps per revolution, and each step advances the shaft by 1.8° for consistent indexing.
