Product Description:

The CTM31NLF09KAA00 is a NEMA 34 step motor manufactured by Kollmorgen. It uses enhancing technology that ensures its small package does not hinder its performance and or efficiency. Additionally, the technology allows the motor to be interfaced with smaller drives thereby minimizing system and operating costs. The CTM31NLF09KAA00, as with other CTM series motors where it belongs to, uses less energy by 25 percent due to its high efficiency. Unlike Kollmorgen standard motors, enhanced motors feature additional magnets placed between each stator tooth leading to a concentrated torque producing flux.

The CTM31NLF09KAA00 supports a leaded connection style and its mounting employs NEMA through holes. Kollmorgen step motors have two phases, a step angle of 1.8 degrees (200 steps per revolution), and a step accuracy of +-3 percent. The motor falls in the Class B insulation group that has a maximum temperature rating of 130 degrees Celsius. For its frame size, the motor has NEMA size 34 frame size which measures 8.5 centimeters.  Kollmorgen motors in the CTM series have a holding torque of between a minimum of 3.9 N-m and a maximum of 13.6 N-m. Note that the holding torque is the amount of rotating force needed to force the motor shaft from its position.

By employing the SIGMAX technology, the motor is able to produce extra torque by blocking magnetic fields from flowing around the stator teeth. To control the motor, Kollmorgen stepper positioning drives are used. For the CTM31NLF09KAA00, the P7000 stepper posting drive is recommended. This is because the drive is designed to cover the entire power range of Kollmorgen stepper motors plus has intelligent indexing options. The P7000 drive supports micro-stepping.
