Product Description:

Kollmorgen manufactures the CB03250 as a member of the Servostar CD Drives series. This compact drive operates as a digital servo amplifier that supplies regulated power to brushless motors in positioning or velocity-controlled automation cells. It uses sine encoder feedback to close the speed and position control loops, allowing the connected motor to follow motion commands accurately. The unit accepts standard 230 V input power and can be enabled through low-power control outputs.

The power section delivers a continuous current of 3 A. Its short-term output rises to 6 A for 2 seconds or 9 A for 500 milliseconds, supporting acceleration profiles that exceed the steady-state load. Internal power loss is limited to 60 W, which reduces the amount of heat that must be removed from the cabinet. The output bridge uses pulse-width modulation at 16 kHz, while a 32 kHz interleave scheme reduces current ripple and associated motor heating. When connected to single-phase power, the apparent power demand is 0.44 kVA at 115 V or 0.88 kVA at 230 V. On three-phase power, the apparent power demand is 0.60 kVA at 115 V or 1.40 kVA at 230 V. The housing weighs 3.56 lb and has a narrow profile for installation in compact control panels. A side clearance of 0.5 inch and clearances of 2.5 inches above and below the heat sink must be maintained for adequate ventilation.

The thermal sensor trips at 80 °C to protect the drive from excessive internal temperature. The DC bus shuts down above 430 VDC, preventing an overvoltage condition from reaching the output stage. Operation is inhibited below 90 VDC to prevent the control circuits from operating with an unstable supply. These protection thresholds allow the drive to disengage when voltage or temperature moves outside its permitted operating range. The required ventilation clearances should remain unobstructed so air can move freely around the housing and heat sink during sustained operation.
