The B8962 belongs to the B8000 Brushless Servo Smart Drives series from Kollmorgen. This compact unit combines power conversion, motion control, and I/O processing to coordinate brushless servomotors in automated assembly cells, lab automation, and packaging machinery. By embedding position loops and power stages in a single enclosure, the drive reduces cabinet space while delivering the deterministic torque and speed commands required for repeatable industrial motion. Integration with upstream controllers is accomplished through an onboard RS-232 serial port for parameter loading and diagnostic queries.

The drive manages 2 axes and sustains a continuous motor current of 5 A on each channel so that machines can maintain production torque without thermal cutback. For rapid indexing or load surges, the current can rise to 10 A momentarily, and that level is controlled by the current loop.
