The AKMH65K-ACKNCA1K is a permanent magnet motor unit designed by Kollmorgen Automation, widely popular for its ability to produce enough power density to support the operation of large industrial machines with high dynamic requirements. This motor unit is exclusively designed to be operated in combination with drive controllers belonging to the SERVOSTAR series; it can not be directly connected to the power mains and should always be used indoors. The magnets present in this industrial motor are made from Neodymium-boron-iron material that produces excitation while maintaining a low inertia in the motor. The AKMH65K-ACKNCA1K is at little risk of overheating during its operation; heat from its winding is conducted to its housing, where it can be easily eliminated. There is also a thermistor installed into the winding to signal dangerous temperature levels to the controller, which will immediately disconnect it.
The AKMH65K-ACKNCA1K is covered in a matt black varnish which provides protection against liquids like water and dilute acids. This varnish is, however, vulnerable to solvents like nitro-thinners and trichloroethylene. The surrounding humidity level around this motor during operation can be as high as 95 per cent without any damage; however, water condensation around the motor is forbidden. It is possible to install this motor at a height as high as 5000 meters above sea level, however, derating is observed at altitudes about 1000 meters above sea level.
There are two connection interfaces installed on top of the housing of the AKMH65K-ACKNCA1K motor; these connectors meet the IP67 protection categories.
