The AKMH32E-ACKNC-4K is a hygienic stainless steel washdown motor manufactured by Kollmorgen within the AKMH Stainless Servomotors series. Designed for direct-drive use on conveyors, fillers, and other sanitary axes, the unit delivers precise servo motion while withstanding aggressive cleaning agents commonly used in food, beverage, and pharmaceutical automation. It integrates with AKD drives and returns position data without requiring an external feedback enclosure.

The motor uses the AKMH3 frame, which aligns it with IEC flange-mounting layouts. The stainless steel front flange measures 89 mm and has a 60 mm pilot, while the standard IM B5 mounting orientation supports radial loads. Torque is transmitted through a closed keyway on a 14 mm shaft manufactured in accordance with DIN 748 and DIN 6885 T1. The three-phase E winding and rotor length 2 provide the electrical and magnetic characteristics required for medium-power applications. Position feedback comes from the SFD2 (Smart Feedback Device) encoder and is routed through a preassembled 4-meter hybrid cable for AKD drives. Because the motor has no brake, the machine must provide external holding force when the axis is stationary. The housing is machined from 1.4404 (316L) stainless steel, eliminating the need for paint while providing corrosion resistance in sanitary processing areas.

The IP69K ingress protection rating allows the motor to withstand high-pressure steam or chemical washdown from any direction. The flange interface is sealed by an FDA-approved O-ring, which helps prevent cleaning fluids and contaminants from entering the housing. External surfaces are polished to a roughness of < 0.8 µm to minimize areas where bacteria can collect. A matching IP69K shaft seal blocks fluid migration along the shaft and uses mineral-filled PTFE to resist caustic cleaning agents. The pre-machined pilot supports accurate alignment with mating equipment, while the closed keyway provides positive torque transfer to the connected load.
