Product Description:
The AKMH31E-CNKNCA5K is a hygienic stainless steel washdown servomotor manufactured by Kollmorgen for the AKMH Stainless Servomotors series. Designed as a face-mounted IEC actuator, it delivers precise torque to equipment on sanitary production lines while tolerating high-pressure cleaning. Its 1.4404 (316L) stainless steel housing provides corrosion resistance in food, dairy, and pharmaceutical processing areas. A smooth 14 mm shaft, an FDA-approved O-ring flange seal, and a shaft seal rated at IP69K protect the internal components against water and contaminants. These sealed surfaces permit installation near processing equipment that is routinely exposed to caustic cleaners, steam, and mineral oil.
The drive section accepts a DC bus of up to 320 VDC. Windings with a resistance of 4.76 ohms and an inductance of 8.6 mH connect to AKD amplifiers through a preassembled, mineral-filled PTFE cable that is 5 m long. Under dynamic load, the stator can draw a peak phase current of 12.0 A and produce up to 3.88 Nm of torque from the E-type winding. The rotor has an inertia of 0.33 kg cm², and rotor length code 1 supports a fast response to changing motion commands. The Smart Feedback Device 3 encoder transmits position data through the shared lead set. The FDA-compliant surface has a roughness below 0.8 µm, which helps prevent residue from collecting during washdown. The AKMH3 frame uses an IM B14 face flange measuring 89 mm across, with a 60 mm pilot for alignment with gearheads or pump housings.
At standstill, the motor supplies 0.96 Nm of torque while drawing 2.64 Arms. Its torque constant is 0.38 Nm/A, providing a predictable relationship between phase current and motor torque. Smart Feedback provides an 11-bit resolution that supports precise velocity regulation without requiring an external encoder. The motor has a thermal time constant of 24 min, allowing short overload periods before winding temperature approaches equilibrium. It is supplied without a holding brake, so a vertical or suspended load requires external retention when motor torque is unavailable. The compact housing and sanitary exterior reduce exposed joints where moisture or processing residue could accumulate.
