Kollmorgen manufactures the AKMH21C-ACKNCA1K as part of the AKMH Stainless Servomotors series. This hygienic stainless steel washdown motor integrates into IEC flange-mounted axes where frequent sanitation is required. With a 79 mm flange diameter, a 40 mm pilot, and a 1 m overall body length, the unit fits compact conveyors, fillers, and pick-and-place end effectors. The Smart Feedback Device (SFD3) encoder provides 11-bit single-turn resolution so the drive can close position loops without external sensors, and the pre-assembled cable mates directly with AKD servo drives for rapid installation.
The motor’s enclosure is machined from 1.4404 (316L) Stainless Steel, and its external finish is limited to < 0.8 µm surface roughness to discourage bacterial adhesion. An IP69K rating certifies resistance to 100 bar water jets at elevated temperatures, while the matching IP69K shaft seal prevents liquid ingress along the 11 mm closed-key shaft. Food-grade boundaries are reinforced by an FDA-approved O-ring seated in the flange face, and it compresses against processing-equipment housings to block crevice formation. These hygienic features combine with flange mounting that follows IM B5 and DIN 748 / DIN 6885 T1 so the actuator installs without additional guarding in open-plant washdown zones.
Electrically, the unit delivers 1.76 N·m of peak torque from windings rated for 6.32 Arms peak current, while continuous stall torque is limited to 0.31 N·m at 1.37 Arms. A torque constant of 0.26 N·m/Arms matches the AKD inverter to the motor’s magnetic circuit, and back-EMF is characterized by 19.5 Vrms/kRPM. At 320 Vdc, the rotor reaches 8000 rpm, supported by low rotor inertia of 0.11 kg·cm² for fast indexing. Thermal equilibrium is modeled by a 29-minute time constant, so overload cycles must be scheduled accordingly. Inductance of 19 mH smooths switching ripple when the drive operates on a 640 VDC bus.
