The AKM52K-SSS2S-06 is a synchronous servomotor manufactured by Kollmorgen. It is designed for use in industrial environments along with servo amplifiers from the same manufacturer. The device can be used in operation with most of the Kollmorgen servo drives. The servomotor should be assembled only by qualified staff with expertise in mechanical engineering. The site of installation should be free of aggressive and conductive material. The motor comes up to insulation material class F as per IEC 60085. The device is coated in matt black color using polyester powder coating. The device doesn’t have brushes; commutation is performed electronically by the servo amplifier used. Extreme caution should be exercised when assembling, operating, storing, and repairing the motor. The flange size of the servomotor is 108 mm. It comes with a rotor length of 2 and winding type K. The unit features a special shaft and special connectors. It is equipped with a special feedback device to ensure efficient performance. The motor comes under the climate category 3K3. The permissible relative humidity of the AKM servomotor is 95% at rated values. The life of the device’s ball bearings is 20,000 operating hours after which they should be replaced. The servomotor comes with an in-built holding brake (24 VDC). Care should be taken while using the holding brake. If there is a suspended load along the vertical axes, the holding brake is released and simultaneously the drive doesn’t produce any output, and there is a risk of the load falling. It could cause a risk of injury for the personnel who is operating the machine. By using an extra, external mechanical brake, functional safety in the case of a hanging load can be ensured.
