Product Description:

The AKM42E-GNCNR-00 is the perfect combination of energy efficiency, reliable torque supply, and durability. This synchronous motor unit from Kollmorgen Automation works in combination with drive controllers belonging to the AKD series to form a rapid response automation system that can support several production and processing systems. The motor unit requires a rated voltage supply of about 480 volts; it can also operate at a maximum input current and reach a peak operating speed of about 6000 revolutions per minute. As a standard device without a shaft seal, this motor unit is classified as an IP54 product. However, it is still equipped with an enclosure that is sufficient to protect it from dust and water splashes. The feedback unit present in this synchronous motor is a single-turn resolver with a maximum resolution of 16-bits.

The AKM42E-GNCNR-00 features a smooth shaft without any shaft sealing ring; this integrated shaft is able to support relatively high loads during the operation of the synchronous motor. The electrical connector integrated into the top of this motor unit is a dual straight M23 interconnect connector; it maintains the IP65 protection of the converter. The electrical connection cables required for this motor unit are not part of its delivery package; operators are required to place a separate order for these cables.

The AKM42E-GNCNR-00 features thermal sensors that can be directly interpreted by the drive controller; these sensors play an important role in protecting the motor from over-temperature damage. The continuous current required for this motor unit is about 2.74 amperes; it can also provide a continuous torque supply of approximately 2.74-newton meters. At a maximum input current of 11 amperes, the peak operating speed at the motor shaft is about 6000 revolutions per minute.

Frequently Asked Questions about AKM42E-GNCNR-00:

Q: Is the retrofitting of brakes to the AKM42E-GNCNR-00 motor possible?

A: No. Holding brakes have to be integrated from the factory.

Q: How is the temperature in the AKM42E-GNCNR-00 motor unit monitored?

A: There is an electronically isolated thermistor integrated into this motor. This thermistor allows amplifiers to monitor the temperature in the motor.

Q: Can the AKM42E-GNCNR-00 be used under water?

A: No. Although the housing of this motor unit provides it with reliable protection against water splashes, it is not a water proof unit.

Q: How long does it take for the AKM42E-GNCNR-00 to be shipped for delivery?

A: The shipping of this is generally carried out as soon as an order is confirmed.

Q: Can the AKM42E-GNCNR-00 be used at any installation height?

A: For operation without derating, the motor should be used below 1000 meters. However, the peak permissible installation height for the unit is about 5000 meters.
