The AKM22E-ANB2AB-00 is a brushless servo motor produced by Kollmorgen for the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. This 22-frame unit delivers precise rotary motion for automated assembly stations, small conveyors, and laboratory equipment that require repeatable position control. A permanent-magnet rotor and electronic commutation provide regulated torque throughout the operating speed range while maintaining low inertia for rapid acceleration. The motor can attach to a compatible gearbox or directly to a machine frame, providing an electromechanical connection between the drive amplifier and the load.
During operation, the integrated 24 V holding brake clamps the shaft whenever electrical power is removed, preventing load drift on vertical or suspended axes. Command and power leads connect through two SpeedTec-ready connectors, which use a keyed arrangement to shorten installation time and maintain sealed connections. Rotor position is measured at 2,048 lines per revolution by a BiSS B encoder. This serial interface transmits absolute position data to the drive with low latency, supporting responsive position and speed control. The stator stack is housed in a 58 mm square frame, allowing installation in confined spaces while providing sufficient surface area to dissipate copper losses. Winding designation E adjusts the phase resistance so the motor can reach full torque without requiring an oversized drive.
The feedback device provides multi-turn optical tracking, allowing the drive to retain absolute position across 4,096 turns without battery support. An IEC flange with accuracy class N centers the motor precisely against gearheads or mounting plates and helps reduce runout at the coupling. Torque is transmitted through a smooth shaft, which accommodates clamp or collet couplings where minimal backlash is required. The rotor length index 2 provides a balance between continuous torque and overall motor mass for medium-power axes. The encoder head follows the AD34/AD58 format, while its two-channel feedback stream provides redundant position communication between the motor and drive. These interfaces allow the power and feedback cables to remain securely connected during repetitive machine movement and vibration.
